Westland, Garryana 2019 Edition 4.1, Native Oak, Single Malt Whiskey, USA (50%)
- USA Whiskey
Description
Named after the native oak trees, the Garryana is an immense whiskey, complex and powerful, the result of a triumvirate of Sherry, Brandy and Garry oak casks, a combination that imbues a kaleidoscopic nose. Pale gold, glistening in the glass, subtle spices, crusty loaf and a whiff of campfire shifts into smoky pepper and morphs into a hedonistic medley of baking spices, then comes big, rich fruit and a generous pinch of black pepper and wood smoke. Supremely long and fruity with a big chili kick, this is a showstopping spirit that will have you sniffing your empty glass for hours once the last drop is drunk.

Barley
Barley is a key ingredient in the production of some of the world's most renowned spirits, particularly whiskey and Scotch whisky. Malted barley is used as the primary grain in many single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, where it contributes a distinct malty, nutty, and sometimes smoky flavour profile. In addition to Scotch, barley is also a staple in the production of Irish whiskey, where it often lends a smoother, creamier taste. The versatility of barley as a grain makes it a favorite for creating complex and deeply nuanced spirits cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
