Description

Sylvie calls this her mauvais garçon, her naughty boy, because the malo-lactic is always difficult to start and slow to finish, because of the wine's low pH. This contributes to the wine's whistle-clean, intense, taut and firm minerality. This is tightly knit and keenly consistent across the palate. The vineyard is a monople of Vougeraie and was first planted with white grapeds by the monks of Cîteaux in 1110.

Treat it like a Grand Cru and drink 2027 - 2042.

Jasper Morris MW 92-94/100
33.5 hl/ha is a much better yield than looked likely at first. There ws heavy damage on the Clos Vougeot side, but otherwise wind turbines and bougies helped save the day. Mid yellow. The nose is a little bit biscuity, a reduction on the wood. At the moment that shows most. Quite some weight at the start of the palate, a bit of heat behind and some liquorice notes.
