Description
This is an important cuvée for Jean-Louis, with two parcels combining to make just over one hectare. It’s also his best wine. Most of the vines are higher on the slope, with the balance sitting just above Clavaillon, but the soils are finer and lighter. The aroma has an accent of mineral spice as well as white-flower notes. The palate is beautifully chiselled, with a classic tension and an intense finish.

Very pretty pure light lemon colour. A stylish and complete nose, Chavy’s 2020 Puligny Folatières from the subsection Au Chaniot has very good tension on the palate, some weight of white fruit, not too generous but with depth even so. Very promising.Jasper Morris MW, insideburgundy_com (January 2022)

Domaine Jean-Louis Chavy
Jean-Louis Chavy is one of the sons of Gerard Chavy, and now runs his own Domaine. His brother Alain, now runs Domaine Gerard Chavy on his own. Jean-Louis and Alain have split the families vineyards up between them with them sharing the Bourgogne Blanc, village Puligny Montrachet, the lieu-dit Charmes, as well as Premiers Crus Champs Gain, Clavoillons, and Folatieres vineyards. In addition Jean-Louis has control of the Premier Cru Perrieres parcel, while Alain kept the Pucelles parcel. The winery was finished in 2004 and the winemaking and ageing style is traditional. It is early days to talk of a house style for Jean-Louis, but his wine are so far very elegant and without any noticeable oak influence.
