Description

This is a wine of wonderful elegance, with the hallmark Picq freshness and mineral focus. It manages to add a sense of sophistication and suavity to proceedings, with a silky, floral mid-palate which has touches of blood orange. The finish, as ever, is tense and precise, with oyster shell remaining long after the wine itself has gone. Drink 2026-2040.

Another pale colour, again with a discreet nose, with just a little more white fruit energy, and a very gracious texture to finish. The 2020 Chablis Vaucoupin 1er Cru has the best definition and clarity of Picq’s 2020s, delivering laser-like precision and vibrant citric fruit; blood orange scents develop with aeration. The palate is beautifully balanced with an intense saline entry, very good depth and a vibrant, lemongrass-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. Superb. Chardonnay

Chardonnay is often seen as the king of white wine grapes and one of the most widely planted in the world It is suited to a wide variety of soils, though it excels in soils with a high limestone content as found in Champagne, Chablis, and the Côte D`Or. Didier & Pascal Picq

Brothers Didier and Pascal Picq head up this domaine, based in Chichée, just south of the town of Chablis. Didier is in charge of winemaking, while his brother Pascal looks after the vineyards. Their father Gilbert retired in 1976, but the domaine still proudly bears his name.
