Neal Martin MW 89/100
The 2018 Pauillac de Latour, bottled in June 2020, has a floral, almost Margaux-like bouquet with a mixture of red and black fruit infused with crushed violet and a nuanced pencil box note in the background. The palate is medium-bodied and quite animated upon opening. The acidity is a little more heightened than I expected. With modest weight, the 2018 is linear yet reassuringly elegant towards the finish. Contemplating this Troisième Vin, maybe it is more low-key than expected, but in a positive sense. It should drink well over the next decade. Drink 2023-2033Neil Martin, Vinous.com.com (March 2023)

Firm, very silky and driven with blackberry and currant. Medium to full body, chewy texture and a lightly austere finish. Chewy and polished third wine of Latour.james_suckling, jamessuckling_com (April 2019)

This wine has lovely precision, with touches of exoticism and spice, and fleshy fruit you see in vintages like 2009. As a side note, technical director Hélène Génin says that even though the vintage was difficult in terms of mildew they never thought about giving up on biodynamics as they are ‘fully wedded to the philosophy’. A yield of 24hl/la with 21% of production going into this wine.Drink 2025-2038jane_anson_mw, janeanson_com (April 2019)

Based on 59.9% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30.8% Merlot, and a whopping 12.3% Petit Verdot (this cuvée accounts for 21% of the total production of the estate), the 2018 Le Pauillac De Château Latour is impressive, and certainly an outstanding wine. Classic crème de cassis, violets, menthol, and complex floral notes all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, seamless, elegant wine. It continues to open up beautifully with time in the glass and I suspect will keep for 15 years or more. The best third wine out there? I'd say unquestionably.jeb_dunnuck, (May 2019)

About this wine
Château Latour
Château Latour is a wine estate in Pauillac, part of the Haut-Medoc sub-region on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. The estate’s history dates back to at least the 14th century, though vineyards were not established here until the 17th century. The estate is located at the southern edge of the Pauillac appellation, bordering the St Julien vineyards of Château Léoville Las Cases. Latour is one of the five First Growths of the 1855 classification, occupying the top tier alongside Châteaux Lafite Rothschild, Margaux, Haut-Brion, and Mouton Rothschild.
