Description
A blend from Rosso’s vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba and nearby Roddino, this – like its bigger Barolo siblings – was fermented in cement, but with a shorter maceration to preserve the wine’s freshness and aromatics. It was then aged in large 5,000-litre oak barrels for six months. The 2018 vintage has produced a very juicy, succulent wine showing black cherry and rose aromas, with a vibrant palate of cherry and raspberry fruit, and soft, juicy tannins. Drink now to 2030.

Tom Cannavan 90/100
Ageing is in 5,000-litre casks for this Langhe Nebbiolo. A 2018, the colour is garnet with a little amber on the rim and the nose is firm and fairly ungiving at this stage, some small red fruits, raspberry freshness. It is firm and just a touch lean on the palate at this stage, but beyond that the purity of the fruit is very fine, and the balance and structure of the wine good, plentiful cherry acidity and fine tannins. This could loosen up a little over a year or two in bottleTom Cannavan, Wine Pages (January 2020)
About this wine
Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is the grape behind the Barolo and Barbaresco wines and is hardly ever seen outside the confines of Piedmont. It takes its name from "nebbia" which is Italian for fog, a frequent phenomenon in the region.

Giovanni Rosso
Davide Rosso took over from his father, Giovanni, in the early 2000s. He has since risen quickly in reputation as one of Piedmont’s greatest producers. He may not have the uninterrupted winemaking history of some of his famous neighbours, but he is the envy of many: he has some of the most desirable vineyards in Barolo – Serralunga d’Alba, Cerretta, Serra – showcasing the vivid terroir of his beloved hometown.
