Description
This is a wonderfully positioned vineyard for a simple village wine, nestling under the Grand Cru Bâtard-Montrachet. The Bachelets’ parcel also touches Chassagne’s Les Encegnières. The fruit is rich and luscious, around a very mineral and compact core. A very fine example at this level.

Critics reviews
William Kelley 91/100
Derived from an optimally situated enclave within Les Enceignères, the Bachelet brothers' 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Aubues is showing beautifully, mingling notes of citrus zest and white flowers with hints of green apple, pastry cream and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with fine depth at the core and a long, tangy finish, this has turned out very well.Drink 2022 - 2040William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)

Cool gentle yellow colour. No nose to speak of as yet but it can soon be coaxed out. There is a substantial weight of fruit on the palate, more than for the Chassagne, yet without betraying the elegance of Puligny. Smooth, silky, ripe fruit, not especially floral but a beautiful village wine.” Jasper Morris MW

Jean-Claude Bachelet
Jean-Claude Bachelet is considered one of the most conscientious wine producers in St Aubin. The wines are exceptionally well balanced, with understated character and good medium-term ageing potential. Benoît and Jean-Baptiste Bachelet now head up the estate, having taken over from their father Jean-Claude (who died in 2020). Jean-Claude previously sold much of the estate’s crop to négociants, but nowadays they bottle almost all their wines. Benoît and Jean-Baptiste have now moved to superb new cellars in the hamlet of Gamay, next to St Aubin. In the vineyard The brothers have been experimenting with biodynamic viticulture in the vineyard and have plans to extend this across their holdings in St Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. In the winery The basic principle of a long, slow barrel-ageing for almost two years remains in force, while the state-of-the-art winery has improved consistency.
