Description
Pretty fruit, this is very nicely done, with good density on the palate, which is creamy and dense. It’s full of sweet ripe fruit, but there is also grip and some welcome bite. The 2018 is a very good wine, not compelling – but that isn't D'Armailhac's style. The alcohol is just under 14%, which explains the fresher edge to the wine. Very accomplished. Drink 2023-2025.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW 92/100
The 2018 d’Armailhac is deep garnet-purple in color. It gives up notes of dried herbs, pencil lead, and charcoal, with a core of kirsch, cassis, and cedar. Medium-bodied, the palate is a touch lean, with chewy tannins and a firm finish. Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW , The Wine Independent (February 2023)
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW 91-93/100
The 2018 D'Armailhac (14.5% alcohol) is composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, harvested September 12 to October 3. Deep garnet-purple colored, it reveals a very fruity nose of crushed blackberries, warm black cherries and mulberries plus hints of potpourri, spice cake and pencil shavings. Full-bodied, the decadent palate delivers loads of black berry layers and a firm, grainy frame with underlying freshness and an earthy finish. Wonderfully opulent DArmailhac!Lisa Perrotti-Brown - 23/04/2019
