2017 Echo de Lynch-Bages, Pauillac, Bordeaux

Description

Echo is the second wine of the uber-popular Ch. Lynch-Bages. The nose is enticing without being especially “loud”: it draws you in slowly with aromas of red fruits, cedar and old cigar boxes. It’s lively and dry in the mouth, with notes of strawberry, cherry and pencil lead, along with some leather and forest floor character. This is at the gentler, mellower end of the Pauillac spectrum. It’s drinking well now and will nicely accompany your favourite roast dinner. Try it with venison and cranberry sauce.

Tasted blind. Mid to deep ruby colour. Juicy red fruit on the nose with a little sweet cinnamon. This follows on the palate, which is crunchy but lifted in red-fruit character. A dry, classic style but there is enough energy for enjoyment here too.Drink 2022 - 2030tom_parker_mw, JancisRobinson.com (October 2021)

The 2017 Echo de Lynch Bages is soft, open-knit and easygoing. A rush of sweet red cherry and red plum fruit gives the 2017 its open-knit, distinctive personality. Perhaps it is a bit less expressive than it can be in top vintages, but the balance here is impeccable. Pretty floral and spice notes add an attractive element of suaveness to this lush, supple wine.Drink 2020 - 2029antonio_galloni, Vinous.com.com (March 2020)
