Description
Fine, elegant purple; as always, this isn’t as dark as some cuvées. Bright red cherry mingles with some raspberry notes; the wine is structured, with a tad of oak tannin, and good length. This is – as ever – a refined and sensitive Gevrey.
Though we still have the pleasure of tasting with Christian Sérafin, it is now his niece, Frédérique who is solely responsible for winemaking. Christian describes 2014 as being all about elegance and balance, with neither too much acidity nor tannin. The Sérafin wines always repay patience.

Critics reviews
Neal Martin MW 90/100
The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux offers darker fruit than the 2014 Fonteny with blackcurrant and bilberry, wild hedgerow and dried rose petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied with more fleshiness than the Fonteny on the entry, well-judged acidity with a slight muscular finish that will benefit from several years in bottle. Good potential here.Neil Martin - 30/06/2017
About this wine
Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is probably the most frustrating, and at times infuriating, wine grape in the world. However when it is successful, it can produce some of the most sublime wines known to man. This thin-skinned grape which grows in small, tight bunches performs well on well-drained, deepish limestone based subsoils as are found on Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Pinot Noir is more susceptible than other varieties to over cropping - concentration and varietal character disappear rapidly if yields are excessive and yields as little as 25hl/ha are the norm for some climats of the Côte d`Or.
