Description
The eponymous single vineyard is a parcel of two hectares, identified for both its unique micro-climate and the age of its Tempranillo vines (over 40 at last count). Fermented in wooden vat and then matured for 26 months in new French barrique, the wine is rich and incredibly silky. Its complexity, beyond the luxuriant veneer, is symphonic, however, with balsamic notes and hints of incense and wood smoke harmoniously entwined beneath a protective veil of tannic benevolence. Leather, tobacco, truffle and liquorice are all evidenced on the back of the palate.

Ribera del Duero
In the last 30 years, Ribera del Duero has risen up to challenge Rioja for the crown of Spain's greatest wine region. Once known only as the home of Vega Sicilia, it now boasts numerous bodegas of outstanding quality, from Hacienda Monasterio to Cillar de Silos. The region was granted its DO status in 1982, and today has over 200 wineries and more than 20,000 hectares of vines.
