The style of the 2009 vintage is very similar to the natural character of Charmes-Chambertin wines, with sumptuous and exuberant fruit. This is a gorgeous Burgundy wine with a finish like raspberries and cream.

Antonio Galloni 90-93/100
The 2009 Charmes-Chambertin is open, sleek and seductive. Silky tannins frame a ripe, generous core of fruit. This is a typical 2009 Charmes, long on the fruit but lacking a touch of verve that might otherwise elevate it. Dried flowers and red berries linger on the finish. This is a true Charmes sourced from the upper portion of that vineyard. Tasted from tank. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2029.antonio_galloni - 02/05/2011

About this wine
Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is probably the most frustrating, and at times infuriating, wine grape in the world. However when it is successful, it can produce some of the most sublime wines known to man. This thin-skinned grape which grows in small, tight bunches performs well on well-drained, deepish limestone based subsoils as are found on Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Pinot Noir is more susceptible than other varieties to over cropping - concentration and varietal character disappear rapidly if yields are excessive and yields as little as 25hl/ha are the norm for some climats of the Côte d`Or.
