Description
In 2007 Les Forts de Latour has produced a wine that is comfortably of Second Growth quality. It is an elegant, feminine Les Forts rather than a tannic beast, perfectly harnessing the finest aspects of the vintage. The nose is brooding and serious, while on the palate the wine explodes with sweet mouthfilling cassis and cool precise blackberries with licorice and coffee hints. Made from 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Merlot this is creamy and refined with very supple tannins. It may not reach the dizzy heights of the 2005 but in the context of the vintage it is excellent.

Critics reviews
16.5/20
Good rich purple-red, supple and rounded fruit due to the high proportion of old Merlot, more gentle in style than in previous years, very attractive and should fill out in barrel.
Jancis Robinson MW 16.5/20
A bit of raw and sandpaper-like on the nose. Then sweet and round and flattering - very unlike Les Forts. So soft! So easy!!! Soft and round...So different from the usual style of Les Forts. (www.JancisRobinson.com)
About this wine
Château Latour
Château Latour is a wine estate in Pauillac, part of the Haut-Medoc sub-region on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. The estate’s history dates back to at least the 14th century, though vineyards were not established here until the 17th century. The estate is located at the southern edge of the Pauillac appellation, bordering the St Julien vineyards of Château Léoville Las Cases. Latour is one of the five First Growths of the 1855 classification, occupying the top tier alongside Châteaux Lafite Rothschild, Margaux, Haut-Brion, and Mouton Rothschild.
