2006 Port Askaig, Berry Bros. & Rudd Exclusive, Cask Ref. 308861, 15-Year-Old, Islay, Single Malt Scotch Whisky (48.7%)
- Scotch Whisky
Description
This cask of Port Askaig shone out to me amongst others tasted alongside. It displays supreme balance and Islay typicity. A reassuringly smoky nose envelops notes of leaf mulch and citrus skins. The palate is full of coastal tang, lime and toasted herbs, whilst the moreish finish is replete with manifold oils – citrus, olive and engine. A good-sized glass of this with an engrossing evening’s television and a little plate of cheese, please.

About this spirit
Port Askaig
Barley
Barley is a key ingredient in the production of some of the world's most renowned spirits, particularly whiskey and Scotch whisky. Malted barley is used as the primary grain in many single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, where it contributes a distinct malty, nutty, and sometimes smoky flavour profile. In addition to Scotch, barley is also a staple in the production of Irish whiskey, where it often lends a smoother, creamier taste. The versatility of barley as a grain makes it a favorite for creating complex and deeply nuanced spirits cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
