2006 Château du Tertre, Margaux, Bordeaux

Description

Ch. du Tertre always offers good value for money and the 2006 vintage is no exception. It has a lovely expressive nose with sweet red fruits combining with violet notes. The palate has structured, yet very fine grained tannins, and pure, crunchy red fruit flavours.
Matthew Tipping, Fine Wine

From one of the real up-and-coming estates in Bordeaux, Du Tertre's 2006 is a lovely silky wine. Gently perfumed, with bright yet creamy red fruit and a very elegant palate, the tannins here are so supple that you might almost think you were drinking Burgundy rather than Bordeaux. It is as feminine as ever with a lovely explosion of fruit on the palate. It has a generosity and attractiveness that is not frequently found in 2006.This will make delicious and extremely sophisticated drinking.

Critics reviews

Neal Martin MW 85/100
Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London and then blind at Farr's horizontal, the 2006 Chteau du Tertre has a loose-knit bouquet with earthy, slightly dour red berry fruit that need more vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, balanced but it seems like a wine that has run out of ideas and does not know where to go. Tasted around the same time as the excellent 2015, I would hedge my money against the more recent vintage and wait! Alternatively, there are several other vintages that have performed better in recent years. Tasted April 2016.Neil Martin - 30/05/2016

Herbaceous, sweet, cedary notes intermixed with black currant and barrique smells as well as some autumnal, foresty notes are followed by a medium-bodied wine that tails off in the mouth and finishes with some aggressive tannins. robert_parker - Wine Advocate - Apr 2009
