Description
Ch. Batailley is one of our (and our customers') perennial favourites, and in 2006 this is once again one of the best value wines in Bordeaux. It is quintessential Pauillac with layers of creamy, ripe blackcurrant and plum fruit and hints of mint. Batailley's 2006 is not a blockbuster but it is rich, generous and stylish for the vintage and should age extremely well. Another triumph from owner Philippe Castéja.

Tasted at Bordeaux Index's annual 10-Year On tasting in London and then at the chteau. The 2006 Chteau Batailley has much more fruit intensity on the nose compared to Lynch Moussas: vibrant blackberry, raspberry coulis and cedar scents all vying for attention, the oak neatly assimilated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe red berry fruit, a gentle grip in the mouth and a pleasing, ferrous finish. Give this another 2-3 years in bottle and you will have yourself a very fine Batailley. Tasted April 2016.Neil Martin - 30/05/2016
