Description

Our team have surpassed themselves in selecting this cask – it’s one of my all-time favourites. The demerara rum cask finish has given a stunning, refined nose with tropical fruits. Gentle peat smoke reminiscent of a burnt-out bonfire lingers with seaweed and crisped brown sugar notes.

To taste, it’s rich with a mouthcoating oiliness and hints of coastal brine – a hallmark of Glen Scotia. The fruit nods to barbecued pineapple, yellow apple and mango. Creamy vanilla and coconut shavings segue into dried fruits and a touch of peppery spice. All the elements are so well balanced that this dram will have widespread appeal, even for those not usually drawn to peated whisky.

About this spirit

Barley

Barley is a key ingredient in the production of some of the world's most renowned spirits, particularly whiskey and Scotch whisky. Malted barley is used as the primary grain in many single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, where it contributes a distinct malty, nutty, and sometimes smoky flavour profile. In addition to Scotch, barley is also a staple in the production of Irish whiskey, where it often lends a smoother, creamier taste. The versatility of barley as a grain makes it a favorite for creating complex and deeply nuanced spirits cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
