Jancis Robinson MW 18.5/100
Wonderfully interesting nutty notes on the nose, very light and fresh with real vivacity. Not the concentrated monster one associates with Leroy's early vintages! Lovely and very fresh. Great delicate balance. Lovely now. Decidedly pretty – the sort of wine you never find outside Burgundy. This was the group's third favourite red burgundy.Drink from 2005 onwardjancis_robinson_mw MW, JancisRobinson.com (October 2010)
Pierre Antoine Rovani 95/100
Leroy's Romanee-St.-Vivant has seemingly taken on weight, substance, and structure since I tasted it a year ago. Dark plums, spices, mocha, and dried prunes burst from the glass. This medium-to-full-bodied liquid velvet is packed with chewy red and black fruits.Drink from 2005 onwardPierre Rovani, Wine Advocate (October 2000)
About this wine
Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir is probably the most frustrating, and at times infuriating, wine grape in the world. However when it is successful, it can produce some of the most sublime wines known to man. This thin-skinned grape which grows in small, tight bunches performs well on well-drained, deepish limestone based subsoils as are found on Burgundy's Côte d'Or. Pinot Noir is more susceptible than other varieties to over cropping - concentration and varietal character disappear rapidly if yields are excessive and yields as little as 25hl/ha are the norm for some climats of the Côte d`Or.

Domaine Leroy
Domain Leroy is arguably producing the greatest red Burgundy wines on the Cote d`Or at present. Lalou Bize-Leroy started out as a négociant, working for her family's Maison Leroy, which was founded by her father, Henri. There are three entities to the Leroy empire: the Maison Leroy based in Auxey-Duresses; the Domaine d’Auvenay named for Lalou Bize-Leroy’s own home near St-Romain, and the substantial Domaine Leroy in Vosne-Romanée.
