Bowmore, Aston Martin Masters' Selection, 22-Year-Old, 2023 Release, Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (51%)
- Scotch Whisky
Description
Most often, this would be toward the end of a line-up of some of the best whiskies released in 2023, but on 12th December 2023, merely the appetiser to the best Bowmore tasting & dinner I’ve had the pleasure of attending. Presented by the inestimable David Miles (who humbly said he doesn’t get to try these alongside the 22yo, 30yo and the 52yo ARC often), the extra ABV gives this a significant extra palate weight and depth from the excellent standard range. I can’t give this higher praise other than to say it tasted very well alongside the far older and rarer Bowmore’s and was a delight to come back to as the last dram of the night.

About this spirit
Barley
Barley is a key ingredient in the production of some of the world's most renowned spirits, particularly whiskey and Scotch whisky. Malted barley is used as the primary grain in many single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, where it contributes a distinct malty, nutty, and sometimes smoky flavour profile. In addition to Scotch, barley is also a staple in the production of Irish whiskey, where it often lends a smoother, creamier taste. The versatility of barley as a grain makes it a favorite for creating complex and deeply nuanced spirits cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
