In addition to holding the honour of Japan’s oldest single malt whisky distillery, his team at Yamazaki create myriad complexities of spirit, through varying many facets of the fermentation, distillation and maturation process. These multifarious barrels are then married with supreme skill to create this delicious bottling. Softly sweet, with oak richness and hints of exotic spice, this is always a pleasure to share.

The House of Suntory

Yamazaki was Japan’s first distillery, established in 1923 by Shinjiro Tori. Inspired by traditional Scottish whisky-making, but wanting to create something distinctly Japanese, Tori selected a site on the periphery of Kyoto, Japan’s ancient cultural centre.
