Description
Cabernet Sauvignon 80%, Merlot 10%, Cabernet Franc 5%, Petit Verdot 5%
The year started early and finished late, says Olivier Bernard. His Merlot suffered, not from mildew but coulure (berry failure after flowering); not much made it into the grand vin. Conversely, the Cabernet Sauvignon was triumphantly gathered by mid-October, in superb condition. The wine is deeply coloured, chunky and intense, heady with herbal oils of sage and thyme, and a saline, earthy grip to the finish. Almost not like a Graves, this is a wine of exceptional quality in the context of the year. Drink 2026-2042.
