2015 Berry Bros. & Rudd Penderyn, Cask Ref. W20, Single Malt Whisky, Wales (59.9%)
- World Whisky
Description
Intense oak and spice on the nose is matched by lush fruit and an appealingly rich hue. The fruit undoubtedly brought forth by maturation in a cask that had previously been used to produce deliciously sweet Moscatel de Setúbal on the eponymous Portuguese peninsula. Notes of candied peel, toasted spice and apricot jam flesh out the palate. Enjoy this with a game of cards on a balmy evening, ideally in the wonderful Welsh valleys. As our friends at Penderyn might say - Iechyd da!

About this spirit
Barley
Barley is a key ingredient in the production of some of the world's most renowned spirits, particularly whiskey and Scotch whisky. Malted barley is used as the primary grain in many single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, where it contributes a distinct malty, nutty, and sometimes smoky flavour profile. In addition to Scotch, barley is also a staple in the production of Irish whiskey, where it often lends a smoother, creamier taste. The versatility of barley as a grain makes it a favorite for creating complex and deeply nuanced spirits cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
