Description
Established in 1881, Bruichladdich Distillery is known for its creative use of cask types. This Single Muscatel Cask 9-Year-Old, distilled in 2014, is a testament to the experimental approach here. It is part of the Micro-Provenance Series, which explores different factors and ageing processes on the final spirit. Produced using Concerto barley, this unpeated expression was filled into first-fill Muscatel casks and aged for nine years. It has been bottled at natural cask strength, without chill filtration or artificial colouring. Bruichladdich’s commitment to provenance and terroir extends to using 100% Scottish barley and local water sources.

Barley
Barley is a key ingredient in the production of some of the world's most renowned spirits, particularly whiskey and Scotch whisky. Malted barley is used as the primary grain in many single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, where it contributes a distinct malty, nutty, and sometimes smoky flavour profile. In addition to Scotch, barley is also a staple in the production of Irish whiskey, where it often lends a smoother, creamier taste. The versatility of barley as a grain makes it a favorite for creating complex and deeply nuanced spirits cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
