2012 Benromach, Berry Bros. & Rudd Exclusive First Fill Bourbon Barrel, Cask Ref. 19, Speyside, Single Malt Scotch Whisky (59.8%)
- Scotch Whisky
Description
The 2012 Benromach BBR Cask is endearingly handsome on the nose, with sweet vanilla cream and even white chocolate aromas. The palate demonstrates a delicate, deft flick of peat; almost imperceptible, but with just enough presence to enliven and balance the honeyed oak and Malteser flavours. There are sweet tea notes on the finish, alongside custard apples and hints of muscovado sugar. It’s utterly scrumptious with a very tiny splash of water, enjoyed alongside my grandma’s Victoria Sponge cake.

Barley
Barley is a key ingredient in the production of some of the world's most renowned spirits, particularly whiskey and Scotch whisky. Malted barley is used as the primary grain in many single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, where it contributes a distinct malty, nutty, and sometimes smoky flavour profile. In addition to Scotch, barley is also a staple in the production of Irish whiskey, where it often lends a smoother, creamier taste. The versatility of barley as a grain makes it a favorite for creating complex and deeply nuanced spirits cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
