1996 Glenmorangie Grand Vintage, Bottled 2019, Highland, Single Malt Scotch Whisky (43%)
- Scotch Whisky
Description
At first look, a beautiful golden honey colour meets the eyes. On the nose, we get a soft yet complex aroma of dried apples, vanilla, honey and dried banana at the very end. When things get closer to home, the palate takes us on a ride with flavours of peaches, pears and nutty oak.
After standing (or sitting) for a little while, there is a fading, honeyed-apple-crumble character on the finish. What struck me most was how balanced this is. Anyone can tell that this whisky spent its life in an ex-bourbon cask. Simply gorgeous!

Barley
Barley is a key ingredient in the production of some of the world's most renowned spirits, particularly whiskey and Scotch whisky. Malted barley is used as the primary grain in many single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, where it contributes a distinct malty, nutty, and sometimes smoky flavour profile. In addition to Scotch, barley is also a staple in the production of Irish whiskey, where it often lends a smoother, creamier taste. The versatility of barley as a grain makes it a favorite for creating complex and deeply nuanced spirits cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
