Bruichladdich, 18-Year-Old, Islay, Single Malt Scotch Whisky (50%)
- Scotch Whisky
Description
This unpeated dram from Islay is aged in ex-Bourbon barrels and a small selection of wine casks. While nosing the glass, enticing aromas of sweet blossom honey, zesty orange peel and ripe banana emerge. Upon tasting, the oak’s influence has bestowed muscovado sugar and lightly salted caramel brittle flavours. All is integrated harmoniously with the sweet medley of tropical fruits running throughout the palate. This all wraps up rather elegantly with a delicious and mouth-watering finish. This is a perfect after-dinner digestif in the midsummer.

Barley
Barley is a key ingredient in the production of some of the world's most renowned spirits, particularly whiskey and Scotch whisky. Malted barley is used as the primary grain in many single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, where it contributes a distinct malty, nutty, and sometimes smoky flavour profile. In addition to Scotch, barley is also a staple in the production of Irish whiskey, where it often lends a smoother, creamier taste. The versatility of barley as a grain makes it a favorite for creating complex and deeply nuanced spirits cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
