Laphroaig, Sherry Cask, 10-Year-Old, Islay, Single Malt Scotch Whisky (48%)
- Scotch Whisky
Description
Few things have a more overt influence on a single malt whisky than choosing to use peat in the drying of the barley. And few distilleries allow that influence to shine as brightly as Laphroaig. Here, though, the Sherry cask ageing has provided a wealth of dark spice and dry fruit to counterbalance the powerful peat. Notes of leather, sticky tobacco, stickier Medjool dates and maple-smoked bacon can be found, along with tar and honey. Bottled at a toothsome 48%, this is equally delicious with, or without, a drop or two of water

Barley
Barley is a key ingredient in the production of some of the world's most renowned spirits, particularly whiskey and Scotch whisky. Malted barley is used as the primary grain in many single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, where it contributes a distinct malty, nutty, and sometimes smoky flavour profile. In addition to Scotch, barley is also a staple in the production of Irish whiskey, where it often lends a smoother, creamier taste. The versatility of barley as a grain makes it a favorite for creating complex and deeply nuanced spirits cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
