Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, Filey Bay, IPA Finish, Batch #1, Single Malt Whisky, England (46%)
- World Whisky
Description
100% field to bottle. Being farmers, brewers and distillers, Filey Bay have crafted a unique and delicious single malt. All the barley is grown on the family farm in Hunmanby, the water is from two sources sunk deep into the Yorkshire chalk bedrock and this fine example is even matured in their own ex-IPA casks.
It's bright amber gold in hue, light and fruity – but don't let this put you off. This just allows the unusual cask finish to shine through. It has biscuity overtones, with notes of green apple, pear drops, lemon cake and those all-important hops. Sit back and enjoy with some cashew nuts.

About this spirit
Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery
Barley
Barley is a key ingredient in the production of some of the world's most renowned spirits, particularly whiskey and Scotch whisky. Malted barley is used as the primary grain in many single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, where it contributes a distinct malty, nutty, and sometimes smoky flavour profile. In addition to Scotch, barley is also a staple in the production of Irish whiskey, where it often lends a smoother, creamier taste. The versatility of barley as a grain makes it a favorite for creating complex and deeply nuanced spirits cherished by enthusiasts worldwide.
