Glenturret Dinner, Thursday 3rd February 2022

Description

Join our Spirits Buyer, Rob Whitehead and John Laurie, General Manager of Glenturret, for a dinner in our historic Napoleon Cellar, tasting some of Scotland’s finest whiskies. Glenturret sits on the banks of the River Turret, near Crieff in Perthshire. It is one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries as well as also taking the position as the oldest in Scotland with records dating back to as early as 1717.

Glenturret produces a comparatively tiny amount of whisky, and, for many years, the overwhelming majority of it was used for traditional blends. The style at this ancient address is lighter than some highland style, but with real character – perhaps the reason it seems to relish sherry cask aging so deeply. It was purchased by new owners only a couple of years ago, and we are very excited to watch the range of delicious offerings grow.

We’ll welcome you into our old shop at No.3 St James’s Street for a whisky cocktail and selection of canapés, before heading beneath the streets of St James’s for a four-course dinner paired to match each dram. There will also be wines served throughout the dinner.

We’ll start with the 10-year-old Peat Smoked, then move to compare and contrast the 12-year-old and 15-year-old. Over the cheese course, we’ll serve the rare (only 204 bottles released) 25-year-old 2020 Maiden Release taken from Glenturret’s private stock, and before rounding off the evening with The Glenturret Jaguar E-type, a limited release with only 265 bottles produced.

Spirits to be tasted:
The Glenturret, Triple Wood, 2020 Maiden Release, Highland, Single Malt Scotch Whisky (43%)
